2014-11-20 | Francois Lafond | Is U.S. Economic Growth Over? Faltering Innovation Confronts the Six Headwinds This is a very hot topic which has been in the headlines everywhere, basically with its techno-optimist opponents (Brynjolfsson and MacAffee, and Joel Mokyr) saying that innovation does not decrease so we should not be worried for economic growth. And Jorgenson making quantitative forecasts based on newly assembled productivity data and latest econometric techniques. We're talking about very high level, very influential research which is however lacking a complexity economics viewpoint. |
Please don't hesitate to contact either Francois Lafond or Hyejin Youn if you want to give a presentation at the Journal Club. The presentation can be either on your own work or on some (recent) interesting article on innovation and economic growth in general.
